About Me
I am a vitreoretinal and cataract surgeon based in Andheri West, Mumbai, and I hold dual Royal College surgical qualifications from the United Kingdom — MRCS (Edinburgh) and FRCS (Glasgow) — the same post-graduate benchmarks held by consultant surgeons practising in the British National Health Service.
These qualifications, awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (founded year 1505) and the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (founded year 1599), are granted only after rigorous independent examination in surgical science, clinical judgement, and operative skill. Ophthalmic surgery is, at its heart, a craft — and a Royal College qualification means an outside body of senior surgeons has tested and certified that craft to an international standard.
My clinical work spans the front and back of the eye — premium-IOL laser cataract surgery, vitreoretinal procedures, and treatment for diabetic retinopathy, macular disease, retinal detachment, and age-related macular degeneration. I completed my MBBS at Grant Medical College & Sir J.J. Hospitals, Mumbai, and my post-graduate ophthalmology training at Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai. I then pursued two consecutive fellowships at the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad — Comprehensive Ophthalmology, followed by Medical & Surgical Retina.
On returning to Mumbai in 2019, I served as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Topiwala National Medical College & B.Y.L. Nair Charitable Hospital, with a concurrent attachment as Visiting Vitreoretina Consultant at Jagjivan Ram Railway Hospital. In 2020, I founded Crystal Clear Eye Clinic in Andheri West. Between 2021 and 2023, I joined the Department of Ophthalmology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore — a 1,700-bed tertiary academic medical centre — as a Resident Physician, performing cataract and intravitreal retinal procedures.
Today, my clinical practice is based entirely at Crystal Clear Eye Clinic, where I focus on premium-IOL cataract surgery, vitreoretinal procedures, and refractive surgery. I am a peer reviewer for BMJ Case Reports (British Medical Journal Publishing Group) and a member of the All India Ophthalmological Society, the Uveitis Society of India, and the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
I consult in English, Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi.
