Types of Intraocular Lenses (Laser Cataract Surgery)

There are several types of intraocular lenses (IOLs) used in laser cataract eye surgery (Motiyabind operation, Laser Cataract Surgery, Laser Eye Surgery ), each designed to address different vision needs:

  1. Monofocal IOLs: These lenses provide clear vision at one fixed distance (either far, intermediate, or near). Patients may still need glasses for other distances.
  2. Multifocal IOLs: These lenses have multiple focal points, allowing for clear vision at various distances, reducing the need for glasses.
  3. Extended Depth-of-Focus (EDOF) IOLs: These lenses provide a continuous range of vision, offering better intermediate and distance vision without distinct focal points.
  4. Toric IOLs: Designed for patients with astigmatism, these lenses correct both cataracts and astigmatism.
  5. Accommodative IOLs: These lenses can move or change shape inside the eye, allowing for focusing at different distances.
  6. Light-Adjustable Lenses (LALs): These lenses can be adjusted after surgery using light treatments to fine-tune vision.
